Eep! Verbotomy is using my definition for today's word!
I'm so proud, sniff. I took a picture of the page and everything.
So, rush in and vote for your favorite...mine, I hope.

#21 Canadian Assn. of Kanagawa
Synthetic velvet, hand embroidered, some silk screening
This is one of the few military pillow covers I have that date from the Korean War (rather than WW2). Also unusual is that it is personalized:
Lt. C.E. Young Jr.
Presented by Canadian Assn. of Kanagawa
Ken Branch 1954
If anyone knows anything about this, please email me, or post a comment.

#19 Boulder Dam, Nevada (or Hoover Dam?)
Acetate with silk screened images. Acetate fringe.
Souvenir pillow cover. The name of this dam changed several times. It was orignally Boulder Dam, renamed Hoover Dam (by Herbert Hoover), back to Boulder Dam (by Roosevelt), then back to Hoover Dam. Based on this information, this pillow case was probably made before 1947.

#10 Lordsburg, New Mexico - US Army
Silk screen on acetate, yarn fringe.
Lordsburg was the location of an US Army internment camp from 1942 through 1945. Japanese, Italian and German persons were kept at this location.
An incident at the camp where two Japanese men were shot and killed was never fully investigated. Although the soldier responsible claimed the two were trying to escape, at least one of the men had a severe back condition that prevented him from running. They were shot in the back.

Fringed acetate pillow cover with reflective silkscreened image.
Sweetheart
I thought that you
Would like to know
That someone's thoughts
Go where you go,
That someone never
can forget
The hours we spent
Since first we met.
That life is richer, sweeter far
For such a sweetheart as you are
And now my constant prayer
Will be
That God may keep you
Safe for me.
