I've been collecting vintage souvenir scarves, but also pillow covers and hankies for many years. Most of these items date from the 1930's through the 1960's, which, in my opinion, was the Golden Age of car trips, cheap tours, and tacky souvenirs.
Many of these filmy swatches of color are made of modest materials - acetate, rayon, or cotton. A few are silk. Are they collectible or valuable? Perhaps, but that's not why I've collected them. I make it a point to pay not more than a few dollars for them.
I've begun to pare down the collection a little, especially of the WW2 military pillow cases. Over the past months, I've donated some to several small military museums around the country. So, before they all manage to walk out of the house, I thought I'd memorialize the collection here on Blogger.
